About

Hello, and welcome! It’s SO nice to have you here! My name is Susan “Honey” Williams. I live in a cabin in the northeast Georgia mountains along with my husband Big D and our dog Honey. I am a 60-something wife, mother, and grandmother.

My resume includes 15 years as the owner of a handmade décor craft business (from 2009 to 2024). Additionally, I’ve spent more than 20 years as a writer and blogger, and now as an author.

The Laughing Cabin

Our home has been affectionately named the “Laughing Cabin.” Not coincidentally, it was the name of my craft business and craft blog. The name carries a special meaning because God brought healing to my hurting heart beginning in my mid-40s. He used the peacefulness and isolation of this 5-acre mountain setting as the stage. God also provided a cast of unlikely characters. Each of these characters played a significant role in my healing journey. God prescribed daily doses of unexpected humor and ensuing hilarity as my medicine. This is the place where He has been restoring laughter to my life and joy in my heart as described in Isaiah 61:3 (TPT):

“…to strengthen those crushed by despair who mourn in Zion – to give them a beautiful bouquet in the place of ashes, the oil of bliss instead of tears, and the mantle of joyous praise instead of the spirit of heaviness.”

The Naked Man and the Bear

During those early years, I wrote short stories about my life. I shared them on my blog for the enjoyment of my craft customers and followers. At their insistence, I eventually compiled the stories into a self-published book in 2023. The book is titled The Naked Man and the Bear and Other True Stories from the Laughing Cabin. It will make you smile, belly-laugh, and cry from story to story.

About The Naked Man and the Bear and Other True Stories from the Laughing Cabin

It’s Your Time for a Comeback

Over the past few years, God began to give me a growing desire to write a book. Through a series of events that only God could have orchestrated, I found my way to an author’s mentorship program. After participating in a writing challenge, I was accepted into their program. The publisher (Messenger Books) expressed the desire to publish my manuscript — which had not even been written, yet!

Writing a book required a huge leap of faith on my part, but I gave God my “yes.” This is when a new adventure began. I learned to partner with the Holy Spirit to “birth” the message that God had already placed in my heart.

I was surprised and deeply touched when I learned “what” the message was about and “whose” heart God desired to reach. What unfolded through the pages is an invitation specifically for women over the age of fifty. These are women whose hearts are crying out for a second chance: to know their authentic selves, reconnect with God, and heal from the hurts, guilt, and shame of the past. He wants to restore our hearts and lives like never before! It’s our time for a comeback!

The book is titled It’s Your Time for a Comeback: A Call to Women Over Fifty to Return, Rebuild and Rise. Here’s an excerpt that will better explain what my comeback process has been:

“When I began to consider the content of this book, I did not know what God was about to work in my heart. Those who mentored me often said that before you can deliver a message, you must first become the message. This has been true for me.”
