At the Table with Jesus: Book Pick
I was very fortunate to attend an online workshop with Teresa Yancy, author of At the Table with Jesus. Along with a copy of her book, I received an inspirational mug that reads, “Bloom Sis, It’s Time.” I love the mug — it encourages me and makes me smile every time I use it.
For me, this book was more than just a good read. Teresa’s words helped me to visualize being seated at a beautiful banquet table with Jesus. Each chapter was a carefully prepared meal that nourished my soul. I took my time reading it because there was so much to feast upon.
Teresa explains in the book that God’s original intention was to have intimate communion with us. He wants to restore that intimacy with us. She tells how God’s sacrificial love awakens us and why the Lord’s Supper is a continual feast. Teresa serves us a “meaty” fare, but in simple terms that are easy to comprehend.
I have a cozy chair in my living room where I love to sit when I’m reading a good book. Each afternoon, I would read at least a chapter of At the Table with Jesus. Then, I would sit for a while to pray and reflect on the message. To me, it was “snuggle” time with God.
While reading and reflecting, God would invite me into deeply personal “dinner conversations” that gave me a sense of being an honored guest, a treasured friend – a bride.
The book was my personal invitation to encounter God in a way I had never experienced before. It changed my understanding of Him in many ways. I will come back to read it again and again when I need refreshment for my soul and to be reminded that a seat — and a feast — is waiting for me at God’s banqueting table.

Special Note: I’ve also read and reviewed The Messenger Life written by Teresa and her husband Jeremiah. This is an equally impactful book, and you can check out my review HERE.
