Welcome to My Neck of the Woods

If we have not met, my name is Susan “Honey” Williams. I am a Christian author and blogger. Some may recognize me from the Laughing Cabin, the name of my craft business of fifteen years. I retired last year after undergoing several eye surgeries. Making pretty things is still a passion. Therefore, I will be including DIY projects and decorative ideas on this blog from time to time, like this Gingerbread Man Porch Sitter. Isn’t he adorable?

Closing my craft business allowed me to focus on writing projects. As a result, my new book titled, “It’s Your Time for a Comeback: A Call to Women Over Fifty to Return, Rebuild and Rise” will be coming out in January 2025. I’ll be telling you more about it as we go along. Stay tuned!

Life in a Cabin

My cabin home, shown in the photo, is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in north Georgia. I’ve lived here since 2003 with my husband, Big D, and our dog Honey. She’s a lab-mix and does a great job keeping the squirrels on their toes. Don’t worry, though. Honey does not harm them. The squirrels somehow know this and aren’t afraid to frolic when she is near.

Our life here has been a series of extraordinary and often comical adventures. Like the night I found myself inches away from the nose of a black bear or the time we discovered a flying squirrel setting up camp in our bed. Our reactions to these situations were nothing short of hilarious.

Treasured Memories

I treasure these memories, and I’ve compiled them in a collection of feel-good stories. Each chapter will have you laughing out loud or, at times, wiping away a few tears. You can read them in my book, “The Naked Man and the Bear and Other True Stories from the Laughing Cabin.” [paid link]

Inside the pages, you’ll meet Goldie, Roscoe, Mokie, and Kelly the Mighty Hunter—our four-legged best friends who have long since gone but have never been forgotten. God used them to bring joy and laughter into my life at a time when I needed it most.

Lastly, I will tell you about the naked man mentioned in the title. I’ll give you a clue. He could outrun a black bear in his bare feet! Now, that’s a story worth reading!

So, welcome to my neck of the woods! Make yourself at home! It’s always nice to make a new friend. ~ Susan “Honey” Williams
