The Messenger Life
JANUARY BOOK PICK
This is a book review that is very personal to me. Why? The authors, Jeremiah and Teresa Yancy, have been my writing mentors for the past year. They have written a book — The Messenger Life — that is dear to my heart and is why I have chosen it as my Book Pick for this month.
The Messenger Life will impact many lives because it is more than just a book that guides budding Christian authors. This book teaches us what it means to “become” all that God created us to be. It draws us into deeper intimacy with God and teaches us how to partner with the Holy Spirit in a way that transforms us. It describes the process of spiritual rebirth that all believers experience through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Knows Me
Acrylic Painting on Canvas
Painting or doing any type of crafting has always helped me process my thoughts and emotions. So when my mother passed away in December, I immediately went into my workshop to process my grief. After spending eight hours over the course of two days, I created this 18×24 acrylic painting on canvas that I’ve titled “Jesus Knows Me.”
Although I did not consciously intend to do so, the “angel” in the painting resembles my mother when she was much younger and had dark, short hair. One of my family members pointed this out when I showed it to her. I’ve decided that she’s absolutely right. So, I am dedicating this painting to her. I love you, Mom!
The “Jesus Knows Me” design is available as a 12″x18″ Garden Banner or 11 oz ceramic Coffee Mug. Find them in my Honey for the Heart store!
It’s Your Time for a Comeback!
You’re probably wondering, “What exactly is a comeback?” I’m so glad you asked! Think of it like this. When a football player suffers a significant setback in life or a traumatic injury on the field, it takes him out of the game. He often has no clue whether or when he will ever be able to get back onto the field. He goes through a time of reckoning and an intense healing process while he waits. Not to mention his emotional agony about his future. Grueling months go by when, finally, the player learns the outcome: he is cleared to return to the game!
On the day of his return, there is a public announcement. The stadium erupts with applause and a standing ovation. The crowds are celebrating! The football player has made a comeback!
Spiritually, a comeback is much the same. The pain and trauma in life can cause us to become disillusioned in our faith. We find ourselves sidelined and very distant from God. We’ve taken ourselves out of the game.
The good news is that God does not EVER leave us that way. Nothing we can ever do will separate us from His love. In fact, He will begin to call us back into relationship with Him–back into the game!
My new book, It’s Your Time for a Comeback: A Call to Women Over Fifty to Return, Rebuild and Rise, will be available in February 2025. In it, I will tell you about my comeback journey, which began in my fifties, and help you prepare your heart for your comeback. You will discover, like me, that it’s never too late to come back to God! ~ Susan “Honey” Williams
P.S. Get on my e-newsletter list — Honey for the Heart — I’ll be giving away FREE signed copies of my new book! Details will be provided in the February and March editions. (And for a limited time, get a link to access this free “Return of the Lost Lamb” 8×10 printable!)
